'I am a  story teller with cloth being my narrator. I am Melissa Maxted-Henderson and creating is what I do.'

After years of magazine styling and editing for two of the last remaining South African publications Glamour and GQ, I moved into freelance styling and art direction, focusing on stills and commercials.

I have fashion edited the likes of Forbes Woman Africa, Joburg Style, Sandton Magazine, Business Class, Gaschette magazine, have been published on international platforms HUF magazine,  trendhunter and fashionising and featured on local platforms Between10and5 and Bubblegum club . Aside from magazine work, I have broadened my work spectrum to styling numerous catalogues, campaigns and commercials within the retail and advertising space, working closely with creative agencies and production companies I have been afforded the opportunity to create unique, outstanding pieces of work that speak to the consumer and the continent.

With a fashion and marketing degree behind me as well as graphic design and DTP,  I understand the fundamentals of selling a brand and product placement, I have a uniquely decisive eye when it comes to fit, fabric and form, and have the ability to create specialised garments to fit  unique briefs.

I have recently been awarded a rating on the Loeries official rankings list 2018 for styling and art direction  and walked away with a Golden Lion at Cannes 2018 as well as numerous other awards for styling through the years.

'I see myself as a multifaceted talent focusing on fashion styling and art direction, advertising, commercials, online content production and planning'

I am obsessed with beauty and constantly strive to create something fresh and unique in every project I take on.
